Writing W5

Aloha welcome back to my blog,

this week for writing we finished our speeches and next week we will be rehearsing them. Right now I will explain the 10 pieces of information we had to use, we called them shapes. I wrote them all separately then put them together so my speech is only 6 paragraphs but it includes all the key shapes. Here they are.

 Rhetorical question

Hard hitting statistics

Specify problem

Challenge

Call to action

Aims

Acting together

Big finish

Here is my favourite paragraph I have written so far,

In the end we aim that world hunger may not be a thing by 2030, due to Covid-19 these

time limits may be extended. Why shouldn’t we start now. Starting in a couples years time wont help those that pass away while we are trying to make a start. Lets come together and start now!

Overcoming Hunger and Poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice, It is man made

and it can be over come and combated, by the actions of human beings, sometimes it falls on

a generation to be great, you can be that generation. Let your greatness  blossom.-Nelson Mandela.

Magic Maths W5

Kia Ora, welcome back to my blog

This week for maths I took part in cantamaths. We are tying out to see who makes the competitive team. I would love to make the team but I don't mind if I don't. Today I will talk about  3 things one will be about working in a team, one will be about the individual maths, and the last will be about what I did well and what I can do better.

1. We started off by working in a team and I think I worked well by communicating with the others to work out the answers with joint knowledge.

2. The next week we worked singularly and I think I did this well because I persevered and used the knowledge I have learnt to figure out the ones I struggled with.

3. Overall I think I worked well in a team and by myself, I did this by learning from my mistakes and kept on trying until I got it. The things I can work on are maybe communicating better with the people in my team in stead of just one person figuring it out let the hole team have a piece of knowledge.

What are your strengths and weakness when working with a team or by yourself.

See you next time Bye :)

Writing W4

Aloha welcome back to my blog,

this week for writing I just continued to write my speech. In next weeks writing blog I will teach you about the shapes we are using to form out persuasive text. This week we found facts and wrote about 3 different shapes. My speech is really starting to come together! here is one of the paragraphs I wrote this week.

This is part of my first paragraph and my third paragraph

The united nations estimate that 9 million people starve to death every year. In America alone

41 million people struggle to provide food for their families or even themselves along with lots of

other countries. The Central African Republic remains at the top of the list as the hungriest

country in the world.

The main aim is to end world hunger, to have food security and achieve sustainable agriculture.

We all want our families to have lots of healthy and nutritious food, but when chuck away the

extra food scraps we seem to not think about those in other countries or even those in our country

that live everyday with a small bowl of food that needs to feed the whole family.  A world with

zero hunger can positively impact our economies, health, education, equality and social

development, the goal is to have the issue solved by 2030. Covid-19 has negatively impacted

world hunger. That's according to a yearly report published by the UN into the state of food

security and nutrition worldwide. They stated that nearly 690 million people went hungry in 2019

and that number could rise by between 90 and 132 million in 2020.

I hope you like my speech so far, what do you like most about it?

See you next time Bye :)

Reading W4

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog,

This week for reading my goal was to: Use questions to challenge the text, question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions

Think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking. We read a story and then wrote questions challenging the text on a screencastify. Here is my video

Do you think kids should have Junk food?

Writing W3

Aloha welcome back to my blog,
this week for week for  writing we read a persuasive text and picked out the sections that were part of the description for a "good" persuasive speech.I had to pick a problem out of  Zero hunger, Health and mental illness, Poverty and good education.  I the started to write a little bit of my speech around Zero Hunger children. Here is the start I made.

World Hunger

The world produces enough food for everyone, yet more than 3 million children die of hunger every year. WHY? 66 million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone. Poor nutrition causes nearly half of deaths in children under five years old. Climate change continues to put pressure on our food industries every year and doesn't help to fuel the children who are starving and cant do anything about it.

Hard hitting statistics:

  • 795 million hungry and the additional 2 billion people expected by 2050.

  • Globally, one in nine people in the world today are undernourished

  • 12.9 per cent of the population is undernourished.

  • Poor nutrition causes nearly half of deaths in children under five

  • 3.1 million children each year.

What world problem would you pick?
See you next time Bye :)

Reading Week 3

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog,

I think that this story will be about humans losing lots of different things due to new technology and robots. Maybe it will be about humans going instinct because there are new robots that act like humans and can do just as much if not more than humans, because they don't get tired until they run out of batteries. Also lots of people have already lost jobs because of robots in factories that can do the work so much quicker. They also never get sick or unwell so you can always count on them to be at work. We can find robots everywhere like in the ATM machine and even the self check outs in the supermarket. But if humans go extinct then who will make the robots? Everyone will just become lazy because they wont need to do anything cause of the robots.

What opinion words can I see in the text?

“I don't think”“I do think”“In my opinion””I don't believe”

What was included/ excluded from the text?

We didn't really get to hear the other side of the problem. We only got to hear all the negatives and none of the positives.

What bias may the author have?

The authors bias is aimed towards not having robots to the extent were they make humans extinct and we become like domestic animals.

Where do you as a reader stand on the issue?

I think that we do need casual robots that help us with random

things like the self checkouts in the supermarket but if they come to the point were humans aren't needed anymore I think that is unnecessary.

Here is my screencastify.

I hope you like all the work I have done this week!
What is your opinions about Robots and humans?

Writing W2

Aloha welcome back to my blog,

This week for Writing we continued to focus on the Hansel and Gretal story. We wrote sentences with Repetition,Alliteration and one other one.

She fed him caramelized cookies, she fed him chocolate cookies, she fed him crunchy cookies, she fed him crunchy caramelized cookies and she fed him crunchy chocolate cookies.

He ate perfect pasta, He ate pink pasta, He ate pepperoni pizza

He got fatter and fatter, he got wider and wider, He grew outwards and outwards and soon he would be the fattest and largest he could possibly be.

Gretal was filled with a great idea, he grabbed a thin bone for the witch to feel he bamboozled the old lady making her think he hadn't gain any weight keeping himself safe from her massive stomach.
