Novel Studies.πŸ“—πŸ“˜πŸ“™

Bula, Welcome back to my blog.
In my most recent Reading create blog I shared a little bit about my novel for my novel study. On this slide was a task that I used my book to help me answer. This was all about my first impressions and learning more about my character.I did this orientation to show the first setting and made a drawing of the setting. Here is the slide and learning intention.
Orientation

Write a paragraph of your novel onto this slide. On the next slide, create a Google Drawing that shares the orientation or setting of the novel. Annotate the setting, sharing points that may be vital to the story's conflict or resolution.

Here is the paragraph and the drawing I made.

It was typically hot in Tehran the day my life turned upside down. I was completing my homework in my bedroom, which was always cool because of its high ceilings. It was a spacious room, much to big for me, with very few things.  My small bed stood in one corner next to the radiator, I loved it there in the winter because I could squeeze my toes in between the rails to warm them. Above my bed was a huge window nearly reaching the ceiling. It looked out on our back garden which led to an orchid, divided into sections each with a different type of tree. There were orange trees, apple trees, cherry trees and pomegranate trees. It is the orange trees I remembered the best because they would fruit every year without fail, the oranges hanging like bright balls on the heavy dipping branches. On the days it was too hot to play outside I would jump onto my bed and gaze at the trees, their leaves shining golden in the sunlight.

Writing TemplateπŸ“œπŸ“—

Aloha welcome back to my blog this week I will be talking about writing. This week for writing we have the task of writing a narrative about the future.
After we decided what our story would be about then we to do a plan on the plot.
The plot is the main problem and the solution in the story. This week I will start to write the story about our future. My 2 problems are

  1. Over populating
  2. Diseases
Here is my plot plan.

What do you predict about the future?
See you next time Bye:)

Winter Sport ⚽🏈

Kia ora welcome back to my blog.
Today I will be talking about Winter Sport. Winter Sport is over :(! Our last game was last week and we lost to Selwyn house. Although we lost in I'm still proud of the girls for coming 4th in the competition. I hope that next year I can play netball again and do our school proud.

See you next time bye:)

Reading Create πŸ“™

Welcome back to my blog, this week my goal for reading was:Independently predict, interpret and analyse text, 'reading between the lines' to gain a deeper meaning. We read our books that we are using for our novel studies. Mine is called 'On Two Feet and Wings'. Find out more by reading the task I did. We had to write about how the Title and the picture on the front cover relate to the book. Then we had to pick 3 sentences from the first chapter and write what the author was actually trying to tell us with out saying it.

Do you have any questions about the book?
Are you interested in reading it?
See you next time bye:)

Science πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒ

Welcome back to my blog spot. I hope you are enjoying reading my blogs.

Every Tuesday we do Science. Each teacher has a different thing we can learn about.
Miss Parish: The heart and the rate of the heart.
Miss Henderson: Matter. How Popcorn works and if melting ice will affect the sea level.
Miss Powick: Structure. We made a bridge with wooden sticks.
Miss Lover:Water cycle: Learning about water.

Here is my scientific method for the Matter one.

Reading Task W3

Kia ora welcome back to my blog,

Today I'll be sharing my reading task for this week. This week my goal for reading is: Identify some text events and features, and discuss what they make the reader think about. We read a story called After the Spill. Here is the task we did.

Stanford university Maths Course

Welcome back to my blog.

Today i'll be talking about the maths course our hub has been working on over the past 2-3 terms. This maths course doesn't involve so much maths but it is more about the stereotypes of maths. Why people don't like maths and how we can get better at maths. At the end of each lesson you have to right a paragraph about what you learnt.

Lesson 1 (Knocking down the myths about maths)
Write down the main messages you learned in lesson 1 for someone of your age. What are 3 important things you learned today that everyone your age should know? Write a paragraph please.

Taxi drivers in London spend up to 4 years learning about all the streets in London. With all this remembering their hippo campus expands. When they retire from being a taxi driver, their hippo campus shrinks back to normal size. A 7 year old girl had half of her brain removed after she had a couple of fits. The doctor could not stop it so they decided to cut that side of the brain of.  Scientists thought that she would be paralysed for the rest of her life but after a few months all the strength and connections in her brain began to grow back. If you take 2 groups of people ad try to teach them to juggle. You take 1 of the groups and tell them to practise and show them some things to do to make them better. The other group you don't tell any thing to. The group that practised learned to juggle faster then the other group and where better than the other group.

Lesson 2 ( Maths and Mindset)
What are some important things you learned today that everyone your age should know? Write a paragraph, please.
The students that were called smart chose the easier test because they didn't want to look silly if they got the harder 1 wrong. Those who were told that they were working really hard chose the harder problem because they believed in them self's and so did their teachers.  2) We shouldn't tell people that they are smart cause it can make people feel silly if they get anything wrong.

Lesson 3 ( Mistakes and Speed)
What are some important things you learned today about mistakes, struggle, and speed that everyone your age should know? Write a paragraph, please.
In maths when you make mistakes it means you are learning. Maths isn't about being fast and always getting everything right. Maths is about thinking about the problem then giving reasoning about why you got that answer. Struggling is also a good thing because when you struggle it means you are learning.

Lesson 4 ( Number Flexibility )
In this session we have learned about number flexibility, talking, reasoning and mathematical connections. Write about some of these important ideas for someone of your own age. In a paragraph explain to them why these ideas are important for their learning.
It is important to take your time and explain your reasoning in Maths. It is important to explain your reasoning so you know how you got to that answer. I also learnt that it is good to have a growth mindset so you can believe in yourself to become a good mathematician. The last thing is number flexibility you can always change the numbers and use varies different strategies to work out a problem.

Lesson 5 ( Number patterns and representation )
In this session we have talked about making sense, drawing and representing, using intuition, and looking for the big idea. What are some important things you learned today that everyone your age should know? Write a paragraph, please.
When you are doing fractions it is most important that all the pieces are equal so that when you are trying to figure it out there is no confusion. In fractions there are no rules .

Lesson 6 ( Maths in nature and in work )
In this session we learnt about maths in the world and how animals and nature uses maths in its everyday life. ( We didn't write anything in here we just answered a survey )

Reading Task - Electric Cars the Pros and Cons

This week for reading my goal was: Use questions to challenge the text, question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions. We read a book about Electric cars. For our Task we had to write how it relates to our PBL and 4 questions to challenge the reader.

How I thought it relates to our PBL:
I think this story relates to our PBL because the author is telling her opinion on the electric cars which are most likely going to take over petrol cars because they are more eco friendly and there are lots of problems like Climate Change and Global warming.

Question 1:
Do you think we actually need cars or just better public transport?

Question 2:
Does the government need to make the cars cheaper so more people can afford them?

Question 3:
Why can petrol cars run for more time than electric cars?

Question 4:
Do you think it will stop people from buying electric cars because of the small amount of charging points?

Whats your thoughts about these questions?
See you next time :)
