Reading!🎩📘

Bula, welcome back to the last blog for week 1,
This week my goal for reading was to: Make connections to the text. I had to read two stories about New Zealand and then write what I learnt from the text, my prior knowledge before reading the text and how some of the situations in the book relate to my life at the moment. I will be sharing and explaining the things that I related with my life.

First book was this:

I think the first text relates to my life because at the moment Covid-19 seems to be spreading quickly over the world and even staying in your house might not keep you safe from it! Maybe back when the influenza happened it would've been more difficult as they didn't have technology,TV's, cars or anything like we have in our days. This also relates because lots of people are passing away everywhere and it is very hard to stop it once it starts.

Second Book was This:

In the book it talked about a thing called the Boom and bust affect where everyone would go to the river that had gold but then it would run out so everyone would go to the next place.I think that the boom and bust relates to my life because when there is a new trend everyone jumps on it but then when people get sick of it they go to the next one. Little Biddy was the only female gold miner when this was set. I think Little Biddy relates to my life because in these days woman are inspired to do everything men do and she was one of the only lady gold miners but she worked just as hard as everybody else.

How much do you know about New Zealand's History. Tell me your favourite fact in the comments.
See you next time Bye:)

I enjoyed both of your pieces of writing. I also like reading about the gold mining days. I really like reading about the introduction of wild animals to New Zealand. My favourite fact is that between 1861 and 1919 there were more than 250 deer released into New Zealand. Have you ever been to an old gold mine?
