Camp Reflection

Welcome back to my blog, today I will be talking about our camp.

Last week on Tuesday morning we headed to Wainui YMCA yr 7&8 camp. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get to camp and then we took a 3 hour tramp through the paddocks and over the hills. I stayed in cabin 3 with some of my friends. We returned back to school on Friday the 1st of November. Here is the reflection I wrote about camp and some of the stuff we did there.

What did I find challenging?
I found High ropes and the tramp to camp very physically challenging. The tramp to camp was very steep but I also enjoyed spending the time with my friends while we walked. I found this challenging as I had sore legs as it was so steep. High ropes I also found challenging because you needed a lot of upper body strength that I don't really have. Although I found these activity a little bit out of my comfort zone I still tried my best and enjoyed them.

What have I learnt during my time at camp?
During the raft building event we learnt how to tie knots, as we had to tie the barrels and logs together. We mainly learnt about how to stay safe or survive if you ever get stuck in the wild. We learnt how to make stretchers with rain jackets and a tarpoline. We also learnt how to make a fire and make a waterproof shelter.

What was my favourite part?
My favourite things at camp were spending time with my friends and coasteering. I loved coasteering because I love having fun/exploring in water and looking at the animals. I also liked swimming in the ocean and jumping of the rocks as I love the water.

What am I grateful for?
I am grateful for the instructors and the parents that volunteered to help make our camp the best it could be. I also thank the teachers for supplying food and for cooking all our meals. I'm also grateful that I could go as I know some people do not have the choice.

Have you ever been to camp? What are your favourite activities to do at camp?
See you next time Bye :)
