Reading Create for this week.

Aloha,

This week my goal for reading was "look for clues to confirm predictions". I read a book about the history of when the Maori and European moving to New Zealand fighting over land. The story was called Keeping promises. Here is the slide about the predictions I made.

Weekend Netball 😎⚽

Hello,

Today at netball I played for a different team. I really enjoyed having other people to pass around to. I also enjoyed playing netball with some new people that I have never played with before. We won 11-8 and I played 3/4 WD(wing defence) and the other one I played in C (centre). The team I usually play for won 20-9. Can't wait for Thursday sport next week as we didn't get to play last Thursday.

Breakout EDU

Bonjor,

This week the googlers ( one of the leadership teams ) made a breakout EDU. A breakout EDU is where you have to find clues to unlock locks and crack codes. This year the theme for our breakout EDU was all about wonder. We looked around the library to sheets of paper with clues on them. We had to unlock one box which had a hint card in it we could pass in if we needed help. My team escaped with 26 minutes left. I think that we worked really well as a team but next time we could of discussed more about what we were doing so that it took us less time to escape.

Bingo Card Task

In week 5, instead of doing our workshops like usual we had a bingo card to complete. On the bingo card there were 12 tasks.

• Watch the video, and answer the following questions. How do you feel after watching the video? Why do you feel this way. What do you think the main message was behind the video? How do you know this? How does this link to this terms PBL?
• Pick something that you are passionate about create a 3 minute slideshow telling the audience about it.
• Create a book track using all the features.
• Read a story from Epic and write a Book Review
• Finish this weeks problem solving and make a video of it.
• Fill out a basic facts sheet to practise.
• Use google earth to track down Carmen Sandeigo
• Create a fitness circuit.
• Create your own tour following your favourite sports person or team, musician, ancient civilisation or another Idea you might have of something who travels

These were the 12 tasks but we only had to complete 4.

1. The problem solving   
2. 1 of the literacy tasks
3. The basic facts
4. One of the extra tasks.

Reading Synthesis eggs

Kia ora,

Today I'm talking about my reading for this week. This week my goal for reading is to: Think while reading,pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking. Synthesising is putting together information from the text with our prior knowledge to develop new ideas and understanding. We read a book called Me Me and Me about a girl with a cellphone. Here is the  reading synthesis eggs sheet I filled out before and after reading the text:

The Teachers Strike

Kia hoki mai ki taku putea mo te wiki, he pai te wiki o te katoa (Welcome back to my blog hope everyone is having good week)

On the 29th of May the teachers went on strike.
The teachers went on strike for 2 reasons.

• Because they aren't getting paid enough
• Because they don't have enough time.

1. The first one is a big one because they don't get paid enough. Private schools did not join in with this as they are not paid by the government. That is why private schools cost more money to attend. Hopefully soon the government will give a pay rise so that everything can get back to normal.
2. The second thing is time. The teachers said that they spend so much time on admin and getting things ready they don't have that much time to actually teach us.

Thursday netball😃⚽

Aloha, welcome back to my blog I hope everyone has had a good week so far,

Today I'm going to be talking about Thursday sports, Today we had a good game down at Hagley. It was a very close game but we ended with a win. We played OLA they had a very good team, but it was very tight at the finish. We won 11-10, but OLA had a very good team and I can't wait to play them next time to see the result
