Communication

Aloha, welcome back to my blog

Today in my last post for week 5 I will be talking about another 6 c. Today's 6 c I is........ Communication
We discussed:
What are the different ways we communicated our learning last year for PBL, workshops etc? How did this differ between our different PBL projects? Why is it important to present our learning in different ways?

I learnt that:
  • Learners are can deliver and articulate a coherent message with smart choices of communication modes and tools.
  • Learners can identify what excites, motivates/worries audiences and how to engage/challenge others to think and act differently.
  • Learners consider their audience when delivering a message. They use intrigue, fact, humour and practical elements to hook and retain their audience's attention and deliver a clear and compelling call to action
  • Teams are reflective communicators who consider multiple perspectives and are able to identify powerful ways to strengthen its impact.

What your favourite type of communication?

See you next time
Bye :)

Creativity 101

Kia Ora , welcome back to my second blog of week 5.

In this blog I will cover creativity another of the six c's. First of all everybody has a little bit of creativity and to show this we did an activity where we where given a piece of paper with 4 circles and 4 squares. We where told to turn these into objects which could occur in an everyday life situation. I turned the 4 circles into a cookie, a donut, a netball and a cricket ball. I turned the 4 squares into a monster, a phone, a book and photo frame with a beach setting inside. Then we watched a video about some creativity and it talked about the different sides of the brain and the different ways that people think about different circumstances and situations.

How do you show your creativity? Through drawing? Through writing? Let me know in the comments!

See you next time
Bye :)

Collaboration Reflection PBL T1

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog,
This term for PBL we had to make a project for the fair. We have to write a blog about how we contributed to the our PBL group.

During this PBL I think I have showed Collaboration by:
Contributing what i needed to and helping the others to contribute what was expected of them. I also think I worked well by respecting others ideas and using my teams ideas to make one great idea.

Next time I could help my PBL group out by:
Making important decisions that take into consideration different perspectives and the mutual benefit of the group.

What do you think you bring to a team when working with others?

See you next time
Bye :)

Create Task!😎

Hello and Welcome back to my blog. Today I will be sharing my Create task for week 1.
This week for Reading I read a story called New New Zealanders, it was about a family who lived in an unsafe country and had to move to New Zealand. For our create task we got to pick any back ground we wanted then put 4 buttons on it which are

  1. Similarities between you and the character
  2. Differences between you and the character
  3. Main Idea/Ideas in the text.
  4. An information report about the country you chose.
I picked Australia out so decided to do some of their native animals. You can click on the animals to take you to the links. The Koala is linked to Similarities and Differences, the Wombat is linked to the book, the Koala is linked to the main Ideas, the Crocodile is linked to the Australia information report, the Platypus is linked to this blog post and the Porcupine is an optional 1 linked to a doc about what I have learnt from the story. Here is mine I hope you like it.

What is your favourite animal native to Australia?
See you next time Bye:)

P.B.L T4 2019👓

Kia Ora, welcome back. I hope every had a great holiday.

This Terms P.B.L driving question issss, How do I celebrate who I am. We have looked at things like..

  1. What makes us who we are
  2. What is culture and how do we celebrate different cultures.
One of our first tasks was to pull a country out of a hat and write a set of instructions for a skill, game or something from that country. I picked Australia out of the hat and I'm currently writing a set of instructions to make a paper boomerang. Next week we have to make a traditional food from that country and on Friday we are having a big shared lunch were everyone will bring something from the country they picked out. I will also be sharing my instructions with you. This week for reading we have been focusing on culture and I will share my reading task in the next post.

What is your culture? Have you travel to any places, if so which was your favourite?
See you next time, Bye :)

Main arte-fact.

Good morning/afternoon, today I will be sharing my main arte-fact.
I made some gardens out of plastic bottles and painted them in pretty colours.

pig-bank

We think this will help the future because using old plastic bottles to make new things will mean less plastic in the ocean. You can make lot's of different things with plastic bottle's.

  • Piggy banks
  • Bird feeders
  • Pencil holders
  •  Water cans
There's lots of things you can make out of plastic bottles and it is super easy to!

Have you ever made anything out of plastic bottles?
See you next time Bye :)

PBL Invitation 😁📜

Hey Guys welcome back to my blog.
Today I will be sharing my invitation, this is what I sent to my parents so that they can come down and look at what I've been working on this term. I made this on a website called canva, you can decorate it and make it look cool. We are having it in the school hall set up like a exposition. Everyone has made a project about the future or some thing that will help the future. Everyone will be set up in the hall and the parents and people coming around will be informed about the project that they are looking at.

Have you ever made an invitation? Have you ever used Canva?
See you next time bye :)

P.B.L Planning! 📜😁

Aloha Welcome back to my blog, today I will be sharing my PBL planning document.

Our main question for PBL this term is
'What will the future ask of us?' We had to also make our own question mine is
'How are we going to use old resources for the benefit of the future.'

We have planned on melting barbies to make stickers. We will be making a Science board to display our working and we will also be making business cards out of plastic bags to give away.

Here is 1 of our ideas of the document
Our ideas on this topic are...
to make stickers out of old barbie dolls by cutting them, melting them and then pouring hot water over them to melt. Then we will pour on a sticky piece of paper and then put them in the fridge to cool down. The next step we would do is print out a picture and then glue it onto the plastic.
We can also make other things if requested and we will also be using the melted plastic to make business cards.

The purpose of this is so when you grow out of your old dolls you can reuse instead of wasting the plastic.

What are your thoughts on plastic?

See you next time
Bye:)

PBL T3 2019

Hello welcome back, hope every had a good holiday.

Today I will be introducing this terms PBl driving question What will the future ask of us. We have looked at what the worlds biggest problems are and most of them have something to do with each other. We looked at some of the jobs that will soon be taken over by robots. A robot called Sofia is now a citizen of Saudi Arabia and if she is turned of or defeated it will be called murder. A problem with that is that Sofia will never die meaning she will out live humans.

People are getting fired because the robots are taking over. The robots are taking over because they are more reliable, they aren't lazy, they have a lot of accuracy, they do what they are told, they will never be late for work and they have strong work ethic meaning they do all there work to a high standard. We looked at the differences of humans and Robots here is my top 3:

  1. Disciple
  2. Work Ethic
  3. Relationships
Thanks for reading
See you next time :)
