Novel Studies.📗📘📙

Bula, Welcome back to my blog.
In my most recent Reading create blog I shared a little bit about my novel for my novel study. On this slide was a task that I used my book to help me answer. This was all about my first impressions and learning more about my character.I did this orientation to show the first setting and made a drawing of the setting. Here is the slide and learning intention.
Orientation

Write a paragraph of your novel onto this slide. On the next slide, create a Google Drawing that shares the orientation or setting of the novel. Annotate the setting, sharing points that may be vital to the story's conflict or resolution.

Here is the paragraph and the drawing I made.

It was typically hot in Tehran the day my life turned upside down. I was completing my homework in my bedroom, which was always cool because of its high ceilings. It was a spacious room, much to big for me, with very few things.  My small bed stood in one corner next to the radiator, I loved it there in the winter because I could squeeze my toes in between the rails to warm them. Above my bed was a huge window nearly reaching the ceiling. It looked out on our back garden which led to an orchid, divided into sections each with a different type of tree. There were orange trees, apple trees, cherry trees and pomegranate trees. It is the orange trees I remembered the best because they would fruit every year without fail, the oranges hanging like bright balls on the heavy dipping branches. On the days it was too hot to play outside I would jump onto my bed and gaze at the trees, their leaves shining golden in the sunlight.

Reading Synthesis eggs

Kia ora,

Today I'm talking about my reading for this week. This week my goal for reading is to: Think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking. Synthesising is putting together information from the text with our prior knowledge to develop new ideas and understanding. We read a book called Me Me and Me about a girl with a cellphone. Here is the  reading synthesis eggs sheet I filled out before and after reading the text:

Have you read this book? Do you like reading?

Super Summary

Talofa, welcome back to my blog.
Over the last couple of weeks in literacy we have been writing summary's. In reading we read a book. In writing we learnt how we could make our summary/blurb better for the reader. After that we wrote our summary's about the book we read. Here is my summary about the book, Wild Boy.

Image result for wild boy the bookBrando, felt different than everyone else. He realised he needed to find other ways to make his way in the world. His ADHD and dyslexia made being at school very hard for him. It took Brando a long time to realise that the classroom wasn’t his best fit. He said he was also feeling depressed and stressed. “I fought over everything with my parents he exclaimed.”

Fascinated by a movie he watched, Brando was inspired to live a different life. He decided he would walk around the whole of New Zealand's Coastline to raise money for the Ronald Mcdonald house. There was a lot of things at risk for Brando, things like drowning, injury or even hypothermia. The hole of New Zealand's coastline is around 15,000km. As well as walking on the beach he would face, slippery and sharp rocks also deep rivers.

Aspiring to reach his goal Brando started to train for his big walk. He would not have a pantry to get food from, somethings he could find in the wild to eat are things like berries, worms, and animals such as goats and pigs.”Having to fight for my food taught me a lot about myself” he said. Another thing for Brando was being alone for weeks at a time with no cellphone coverage.

I think that Brando is a great person, also a great leader. He aspired to do things no one else had done before. He didn’t just say he was going to do it he actually did it. At the end of his walk he had raised about $30,000 for the Ronald Mcdonald house. At the end of Brandos walk he came to think of New Zealand as an even beautiful place than he already imagined. He said “ I just want people to get out and do the things they really want to do”.
