Family Culture

Hi welcome back to my blog. Our learning focus for Project Based Learning this term is culture. We have done some research and asked our parents lots of questions to find out which country we are from, or have relatives from. My parents have told me that I have some Scottish and some English. Next we researched the sports, food, clothing and lots of other stuff of our culture.







SCOTTISH SPORTS Shinty is a team game played with sticks and a ball. In shinty, a player is allowed to play the ball in the air and is allowed to use both sides of the stick, called a caman, which is wooden and slanted on both sides.SCOTTISH FOODS Haggis is a Scottish dish consisting of a sheep's or calf's offal mixed with suet, oatmeal, and seasoning and boiled in a bag, traditionally one made from the animal's stomach.SCOTTISH CLOTHING The term Highland dress describes the traditional, regional dress of the Highlands of Scotland. Men's highland dress includes a kilt or trews of his clan tartan.

Winter sport.

Hello,
Yesterday we had winter sport at, Hagley Park. We haven't been there for the last four weeks !! The  rain has been so heavy and because there was a lot of rain and not much sun, the winter weather  is wrecking the fields and because all of the sports except for netball is on grass we can't go. So yesterday it was a nice winter's day and we finally got to go. I'm in the tarantulas netball team. For the whole season, we have been unbeatable. Yesterday we played the OLA (Our Lady of Assumption) Leprechauns. Another great win for us, and for me player of the day .The score was 20-4. We play four ten minute half's. Our team has Caitlin, Felicity, Lucas, Maia, Me, Grace A, Mereana, Sienna and Emily C. We qualified for the north zone competition, next week on Tuesday the 31st of June. We compete against four other teams hoping for victory. We are mostly a good team, and our love for the game makes us even better.

Blog Profile Public vs Private

We are learning what to include in a public profile that will go on our blog.

Reflective Question- How would you decide if something should be kept private?

I would make sure to check with my parents or teachers if I wasn't sure about it. I wouldn't give any phone numbers or addresses away if I was about to put a picture of someone on I would ask for permission before posting about them or posting a photo of them.

Tumu fun day out

On Wednesday the 9th of May, the whole of Tumu took our first trip for the year.  At 9:30 we left on a shiny red metro bus and we arrived there around 9:45 and our session went for about an hour and and fifteen minutes.we left at around 11:15.

When we Came back to  school, we had our morning tea and then went to a Lego activity. We spent an hour using our imaginations to create, villages, monsters,  and people out of the Lego that a cool lady supplied for us.

Then we had lunch and did some art. We had a guest talker in and she talked about really
interesting stuff about sports. I got a Tactix drink bottle, poster and sticker.
The Tactix is a good netball team.

How we did the art:

First one of our teachers drew a big picture of St Francis of Assisi. Then she cut it up and write\
what colour it is meant to be on that section. Then the hub got 1 piece each and we coloured it
in and stuck it together to create a colourful masterpiece.

Yesterday when we went on our trip I had lots of fun. We had a opportunity to draw a picture. Mine ripped but that was the only thing that wasn't so good but over all, I feel that yesterdays hub trip was !GREAT!

Top Team

On Monday, the 30 of October. We had the top team gang come to school, so we could have the great experience of doing top team. He had a team of about up to, 7-9 people, we went around all of the different activities. We had a great time and will definitely do it again. In my team I had Katrina, Alexis, Phoebe, Logan, Oliver, Ethan and me. This a picture of my team.
