Science Experiments

Kia ora, welcome back to my blog,

After we tried out all the teachers experiments we got to pick our own one's to do. I worked with Maia for this and our question was
What causes different liquids to not mix with water?

We tried out 4 different liquids and wrote down about what happened with each one.

  1. Vinegar. The Vinegar mixed very easily with the water as its self is quite a watery consistency.
  2. Honey. The honey was very very thick and it just sat in a big clump at the bottom of the cup .
  3. Oil, the oil separated itself from the water making a cool lava lamp effect.
  4. Maple syrup, the maple syrup mixed right in with the water as well making a brown coloured liquid.
We think this happened because they had different denseness. Like the oil is a very different consistency to the oil but neither of them mixed in with the water.

Do you like Science?
What type of Science are you interested in?
See you next time
Bye:)
